5 FEB 2011: John Ryan and Pat Sully
Don't miss the lyrical John Ryan and our very own mistress of form, Pat Sully, at Perth Poetry Club on 5 February 2011. Plus open mic. 2-4pm at The Moon, 323 William Street, Northbridge.

JOHN RYAN was born in Neptune (the town in New Jersey, not the planet). John has lived in Perth since 2008, and writes poetry about the native flora of the Southwest. Some of his plant poems have appeared in the e-journals Perilous Adventures and SWAMP. He has a forthcoming chapbook called Katoomba Incantation (2011), which is chock-full of verses about flora and other poems of movement and displacement. As a house-sitter, he lives everywhere and watches anything: dogs, cars, pools, lawns, lemon trees (no children please).

PAT SULLY moved to Perth eleven years ago from South Africa. As she has spent most of her life in the countryside, both in her homeland and in Australia, Pat’s poetry is grounded in the natural world, yet frequently takes flight, and lands in unexpected places. Her poems explore life, love and the human condition, and reflect her strong sense of justice and her love of beauty and of language.
