On 16 January Perth Poetry Club features two local poets doing their first feature readings -- JAN NAPIER and MIKE T. Come and give them your support and hear their terrific poems. Plus OPEN MIKE for poets and songwriters, and all the delights of The Moon cafe. 2-4pm, 323 William Street, Northbridge.
JAN NAPIER is addicted to adulation, so she asks that you clap like thunder even if you don't mean it. She collects hundred-dollar notes, but hasn't see one for so long that she's convinced they've gone the way of the dodo. Her poetry has been printed in the American anthology The World According to Goldfish, Short Stories Australia, Yellow Moon, Tamba, SpeedPoets, Valley Micropress (NZ), The Mozzie, The Word Is Out, Metior, and sundry other vaguely reputable publications. Jan also reviews books for the online magazine Antipodean SF.
We first came across MIKE T at Fringe Gallery, and his smiling face has graced Perth Poetry Club's open mike on most Saturdays since. We thought it was time he had a feature spot. He writes well-crafted, good-sounding poems about personal life, history and the state of the world.
